On June 1, 2023, the first university credit course "Second Foreign Language (Chinese)" of the Confucius Institute in Bangui, Central Africa, Bohai University officially started teaching in Bangui University. The teaching target is freshmen and sophomores of the English department, with a total of two classes and 80 students taking this course.
The first Chinese credit class was taught by Ma Zhengrong, the Chinese president of the Confucius Institute in Bangui, Bohai University. Teacher Ma briefly introduced the characteristics of Chinese from a linguistic perspective and explained concepts such as initial consonants, vowels, tones, pinyin, and Chinese characters. Due to their prior foundation in linguistics learning, students are able to quickly distinguish the similarities and differences in pronunciation between Chinese and English and French. They have a strong interest in learning, authentic pronunciation standards, and a relaxed and pleasant classroom atmosphere. Finally, they end up reading "China and Central Africa are good friends" in unison.
In December 2022, at the Board of Directors of Bangui University, the Confucius Institute in Bangui, Bohai University, Central Africa, was officially approved to open Chinese credit courses. Since then, after many communications between the Confucius Institute in Bangui, Bohai University, China and Africa, and the leaders of the School of Languages, Bangui University, we have carefully negotiated on the start time, teaching objects, teaching objectives and teaching requirements, so as to ensure a high standard of teaching quality.
The opening of the Chinese credit course in Bangui University of China and Africa marks that the Confucius Institute in Bangui, Bohai University of China and Africa has reached a new level of schooling, further expanding the space for educational exchanges and cooperation between China and the Central African Republic.
