Project Overview:
The project aims to build academic bridges for students from both universities, enhance their academic literacy, cultivate their cross-cultural communication skills and international perspectives. Southern Utah University has specially designed a 12 day humanities and sciences program during the winter vacation to help students deeply experience the academic atmosphere of American universities, experience multiculturalism, and broaden their international horizons. Through this exchange, students will not only enhance their understanding of the world and English communication skills, but also gain comprehensive development in cross-cultural communication and emerging technology applications, shaping leadership qualities with core competitiveness in the digital age.
Project Highlights:
Offset credits: Undergraduate students who successfully complete the project will receive 2 credits of offset general education courses. If students have already earned credits for general education courses, they can offset 2 credits for professional elective courses (subject to the approval of the Academic Affairs Office). Full time non-directed (self-funded) postgraduate students who successfully complete the national (international) program during their degree study period can be credited with 2 credits of the same or similar courses in the training program (subject to the approval of the college of postgraduate).
Academic courses: Students will participate in carefully designed humanities and sciences courses at Southern Utah University, taught by senior professors and industry experts. The courses focus on cross-cultural communication and leadership development, covering areas such as innovation, new technologies, and artificial intelligence. The course aims to cultivate students' global perspective and cross-cultural leadership, enabling them to understand and apply humanistic and technological knowledge in diverse environments, and enhance their cross-cultural communication skills.
English course: The specially designed English improvement course aims to lay a solid foundation for students to communicate in English, help them improve their international communication skills, and enable them to confidently express, communicate, and collaborate in future academic and cross-cultural contexts.
Cultural Experience: Students will immerse themselves in a multi-level American cultural experience, exploring various aspects such as history, art, sports, and so on, and then enhance their deep understanding of American society. From the natural charm of national parks to historical and cultural relics, from traditional art to technological innovation, students will deeply experience and understand leadership practices in a multicultural context.
Social Interaction: Students will engage with faculty and students at Southern Utah University, actively participating in social activities to enhance cultural understanding while honing cross-cultural communication skills and cultivating global leadership awareness. By making friends from different cultural backgrounds, students will expand their global network, establish international friendships, and enhance their influence and leadership in cross-cultural environments.
Host family: Each student will reside with a host family, immersing themselves in local life and experiencing American family culture firsthand, as well as deeply exploring cultural differences. This intimate cross-cultural exchange enables students to better understand how cultural backgrounds impact communication and leadership, fostering leadership qualities such as tolerance, understanding, and empathy.
Project Certificate: Students who successfully complete the course will receive a project completion certificate from Southern Utah University, demonstrating their achievements in academic exploration, cross-cultural communication, and leadership development, laying a solid foundation for future global leadership development.

Project cost: 23800 RMB per person. Includes tuition, accommodation, meals, project activities, and travel expenses. Excluding round-trip airfare, visa fees, and personal expenses.

Registration deadline: November 14, 2024
Registration method: Students who are interested in registering are requested to send a paper version of the registration application form to the International Exchange and Cooperation Office (Office 106 of the International Exchange Center).
