From November 25 to 30, a delegation led by Wang Huanqing, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Bohai University, visited Cyprus and Ireland to promote international exchange and cooperation. The visit was made at the invitation of the European University Cyprus and the Atlantic Technological University in Ireland, with the aim of expanding Bohai University’s collaborative opportunities with European institutions and advancing the university’s internationalization agenda.
During the visit to Cyprus, the delegation held talks with the Vice President for Academic Affairs of European University Cyprus, as well as directors and faculty representatives from its College of Business and College of Information Science and Technology. Deep discussions focused on international student recruitment at Bohai University, Chinese language promotion, and cultural exchange. The delegation also toured campus laboratories and explored substantive collaboration in areas such as the “0.5+1” joint master’s program and emerging disciplines including artificial intelligence and big data. Both sides reviewed the draft Cooperation Agreement for the Joint Master’s Degree Program, paving the way for its formal signing and the further implementation of bilateral cooperation.
During the visit to Ireland, the delegation met with the Vice President for International Affairs at Atlantic Technological University, along with faculty in charge of Computer Engineering and Nutrition & Health. Conversations centered on Bohai University’s international student training programs, with detailed exchanges on cooperation in artificial intelligence—including joint curriculum development, credit transfer mechanisms, and short-term academic exchange groups. Preliminary consensus was reached in several areas, establishing a foundation for sustainable institutional collaboration.
This visit marks an important step in Bohai University’s ongoing efforts to deepen educational openness and actively engage in Belt and Road educational cooperation. It reinforces the university’s internationalization strategy, expands its partnership network in Europe, and strengthens its profile in global higher education. Moving forward, Bohai University will continue to leverage such exchange visits to promote joint academic development, faculty and student mobility, and research cooperation, contributing to the cultivation of high quality talents with international perspectives while supporting regional educational openness and cultural exchange.
